On the eve of December 18, 2017, a fire broke out in one of the two buildings of FANUC SERVO LTD (see “Note”), damaging approximately 1,500m² of the 18,805m² area. FANUC SERVO LTD is FANUC CORPORATION’s subsidiary for manufacturing motors. The cause of the fire is presently under investigation. We extend our sincere apologies for raising concern and inconveniencing nearby residents, our customers, and relevant institutions.

Fortunately, there was no harm to any persons, and no permanent damage to the building. The fire is expected to have effect on the production of the following motors:

  • BUILT-IN SPINDLE MOTOR
  • FANUC LINEAR MOTOR
  • DD MOTOR
  • SERVO MOTOR (400V input models), SPINDLE MOTOR (400V input models)
  • Old motor models, such as FANUC DC SERVO MOTOR

The production of standard SERVO MOTORs and SPINDLE MOTORs which are produced in FANUC Headquarters, in Oshino-mura, Yamanashi Prefecture, remain unaffected.

The FANUC Group is uniting our efforts in doing everything that we can to recover from this damage. Production has gradually resumed from January 8, 2018 (Monday). For older models such as the DC SERVO MOTOR, it is expected that more time may be required, but we will endeavor diligently to restart production.

In order to minimize delays in the delivery of motors due to this fire, we will continue to strive for speedy recovery.

The performance of FANUC CORPORATION is not expected to be affected to the extent that it will reach the criteria for disclosure.
