January 22, 2026
FANUC CORPORATION
FANUC CORPORATION has been recognized as one of the “Top 100 Global Innovators 2026” by Clarivate Plc, a leading global provider of transformative intelligence. This will be the 7th time and 5th consecutive year that FANUC has been listed.
Clarivate identifies and ranks the top 100 most innovative corporations and institutions in the world once a year, through its original assessment method based on proprietary patent data. In the selection process, AI technology is rapidly gaining importance as a foundation for innovation, and this year’s listed companies are said to represent 16% of high-intensity AI-related inventions.

FANUC has narrowed down its business to its area of expertise, namely industrial automation, and has actively invested in research & development, aiming to develop highly competitive products and release them to the market. To differentiate our products, we have promoted patent prosecution throughout the world, and have strived to enhance our corporate value by building and enhancing our globally competitive intellectual property portfolio.
In recent years, FANUC has been focusing on AI technology to drive innovation in manufacturing sites. Alongside research and development of such AI technologies, we have been actively filing AI-related patents across a wide range of fields, such as numerical control devices and robot control. According to a survey conducted last year by the Japan Patent Office, FANUC ranked 18th in Japan’s patent filings for AI-related inventions.
We believe this honor to be the fruit of our technological innovation and intellectual property strategy being appraised objectively. We shall continue to strengthen the competitiveness of our business, target sustainable growth, and propel intellectual property activities that harmonize with changes in the global business environment. By protecting and using intellectual property, we shall support technological innovation, and through our business, solve social and environmental issues to contribute to creating a sustainable society.
