We are pleased to announce that we have made an investment in Noetra Corp. (“Noetra”), a company dedicated to advancing the research and development of a Japan-developed multimodal foundation model that will serve as a core technology for AI robots and Physical AI.

Background

In recent years, the evolution of AI, particularly in large language models (LLMs), has drawn significant attention to “Physical AI,” which integrates intelligence with real-world actions. For society to extensively adopt Physical AI that can understand human instructions, perceive its environment, make autonomous decisions, and perform actions accordingly, the development of highly reliable and high-performance multimodal foundation models is considered essential.

About Noetra

Noetra is committed to the research and development of a Japan-developed multimodal foundation model that will underpin AI robots and Physical AI, with the goal of strengthening Japan’s industrial competitiveness and enhancing economic security. The company brings together AI developers, enterprises from a broad range of industries, including manufacturing, as well as research institutions, to pursue R&D through cross-industry collaboration.

Significance of the Investment

This investment was made in support of Noetra’s vision and strategy. Through this investment, we will further deepen our understanding of technological developments related to Physical AI, including Japan-developed multimodal foundation models. Leveraging the technologies and expertise that our company has cultivated over many years in FA (Factory Automation), ROBOT, and ROBOMACHINE products, we will continue to research and develop technologies that contribute to solving challenges at customers’ production sites and promoting automation.
