Visitors Can Experience Robot Control Technology by Playing Soccer Against a Robot

FANUC Corporation has launched an interactive exhibit, the "Kick for Goal, Robot Soccer Game," in the Manufacturing Zone at the Science Museum located in Kitanomaru Park, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. The exhibit uses a FANUC industrial robot and allows visitors to experience advanced robot technologies.

The Science Museum, Tokyo is dedicated to helping people of all ages, from children to adults, explore science and technology and learn about their principles and potential. FANUC established this exhibit to provide visitors with an opportunity to see and experience robotics technology in action, fostering a deeper understanding of robots and manufacturing technologies that support a wide range of industries.

At the exhibit, visitors can compete against a robot in a table soccer game. Players use levers to shoot the ball toward the goal, while FANUC’s compact industrial robot, the LR Mate 200iD/7L, serves as the opponent. The robot defends its goal while also attempting to score against the visitor. Using a vision sensor, the robot accurately detects the position of the ball and shoots it. The precise control capabilities unique to industrial robots create an exciting and engaging gameplay experience.

During the game, the scores of both the visitor and the robot are displayed, allowing participants to enjoy the competition while experiencing robotic sensing and control technologies. Multiple difficulty levels are available, making the exhibit enjoyable for a wide range of visitors, from children to adults.

FANUC will continue to provide opportunities for people to learn about the appeal of robotics technology and its applications in society. Through such initiatives, FANUC aims to inspire greater interest in science, technology, and manufacturing among the next generation.

The exhibit has been open to the public since August 26, 2026. Visitors are invited to experience the excitement of playing soccer against a robot at the Science Museum.
