Robot New Function: R-50iA Software PLC Functions

The new robot controller R-50iA comes with an option that supports software PLC functions.

The software PLC functions of CODESYS, which is compliant with the international standard IEC 61131-3, can be used by the R-50iA controller alone, without having to add a PC or other hardware.

• The R-50iA can control Sequential I/O of peripheral equipment or tools
• In the CODESYS Integrated Development Environment, PLC programs can be created using six different languages, including ladder logic and structured text
• There is seamless integration between the robot controller, TP program, and PLC program. For example, a PLC program can reference a robot resistor, and user alarms that are customized per system can be issued.

Furthermore, as an additional option, software PLC can be used to realize process control panel functions.

• Lamps, buttons and other elements can be arranged to form a HMI screen in the Integrated Development Environment. In such a manner, a process control panel can be made effortlessly without any coding
• The created process control panel can be displayed in a browser of a tablet or PC connected via Ethernet

The R-50iA controller also supports FANUC’s “built-in PMC function” used by existing robot controllers. Users can choose between this function and the new software PLC function depending on the purpose.
