ROBOT New product: High-Speed, Heavy-Duty Rack-Mounted SCARA Robot SR-9iA/R

In recent years, production of solar panels has increased, including in China, and it has become key to enhance their productivity.

FANUC has set the transport of solar cell modules of solar panels as its main target to newly develop and start the sales of SR-9iA/R - a variation of the SR series of SCARA robots.

The SR-9iA/R is a rack-mounted SCARA robot with a payload of 9 kg and a reach of 620 mm, intended to transport small components such as solar cell modules on conveyors.

Features of the Robot

Rack-mounted type

A shelf board is set up above the conveyor, on which the robot is placed. The robot transports components that are underneath where it is installed. As such, the space above the conveyor is utilized as the installation space of the robot, making the manufacturing line compact.

The world’s highest processing capacity, heavy-duty specification

Assuming that the load weight is 2.5 kg, the horizontal transport distance is 500 mm, and the vertical lift is 100 mm, one back and forth movement will be completed in 0.7 seconds. This can be maintained continuously, 24 hours a day, without resting. (The world’s best processing capacity.)

High rigidity

  • To achieve precise movement, the robot was designed focusing on the rigidity of the first and second arms.
  • Unlike conventional floor-mounted models, this rack-mounted SCARA robot is structured so that the second arm is positioned below the first arm. During the transport of items, the amount that the vertical axis protrudes is small so that the tip of the robot hand will not readily shake even during high-speed motion.

The SR-9iA/R was displayed in use in a real application at FANUC’s New Products Open House Show in May 2025.

Shipment start: April 2025
