ROBOT New product: Can be Carried by One Person! Ultra-Lightweight and Easy-to-Install Portable Collaborative Robot Now Available!!

FANUC is launching a new addition to its CRX collaborative robot lineup—the CRX-3iA, an incredibly lightweight and portable model that is easy to set up.

In the manufacturing industry, labor shortages are becoming increasingly severe, making automation on the shop floor an urgent necessity. Welding, in particular, faces critical challenges due to the aging of skilled welders and the decline in younger talent.

To address these challenges, FANUC has developed the CRX-3iA — a compact collaborative robot so light it can be carried with one hand and installed anywhere in no time. Not only is it easy to transport, but it can be also set up in tight spaces, providing powerful support for welding automation. For example, in welding large structures that traditionally required many welders, a single operator can now set up one robot, start welding, and then move on to set up another robot during the welding process — making it possible for one person to manage multiple robots.

Due to its lightweight design and flexibility, the CRX-3iA can be used not only for welding but also for a wide range of applications, including assembly and inspection.

Lightweight and Compact Design

• The mechanical unit weighs only 11 kg—light enough to carry with one hand—while offering an impressive reach of up to 692 mm. It covers the typical human working range and enables the replacement of manual tasks.
• Its lightweight design makes relocation between narrow workspaces smooth and layout changes effortless. With such flexibility in deployment, operational efficiency increases dramatically.

Easy Installation

• The lightweight arm can be combined with a magnetic base, eliminating the need for bolt fastening, and allowing installation in any orientation.
• The robot automatically detects its installation angle, eliminating the need for manual input—greatly reducing setup time and effort.

Ease of Use

• By touching a wall with the torch wire, the robot automatically recognizes its installation position, enabling welding without re-teaching after relocation.
• With a payload capacity of 3 kg, it can carry not only a welding torch, but also a welding sensor at the same time. The sensor automatically detects weld points and generates welding paths, eliminating the need for manual teaching.
